COQUILLE, Ore. (AP) — A College Place, Wash., man has been sentenced to nearly 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter and other charges in the deaths of his wife and her 8-year-old son in a high-speed crash in Coos County.

Authorities alleged that 26-year-old Michael Zubriski Jr. stole knives from a Myrtle Point hardware store in August and as he drove away, he saw a police car coming and sped off. At a corner, police say, his car drifted across the center line and crashed into a truck.

The World of Coos Bay reports (http://bit.ly/sxeBZc ) he pleaded guilty on Oct. 24.

Authorities said 26-year-old Natalia Zubriski died instantly, and her son, 8-year-old Jolan Wilson, died on the way to the hospital. Two other children were injured.
