Ten animal rescue groups will come together Saturday at Petco in Hazel Dell for what’s being billed as the area’s first “mega-pet-adoption” event.

On hand will be The Humane Society for Southwest Washington, Second Chance Companions, Pups CPS, Chapple Hill Cat Sanctuary, Another Chance Rescue, Furry Friends, Tender Care Animal Rescue, Pet Aid of Washington, Exotic Bird Rescue of Oregon, and Oregon Ferret Shelter.

Dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, birds, and ferrets will all be available for adoption. General manager Aaron Ehlers said the event is free, but standard adoption costs and fees will still apply.

“The goal of this event is to find forever homes for homeless animals in our community,” he said. There’ll be fun activities for kids, even if you’re not adopting, he said.

The event is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at 8820 N.E. Fifth Ave., Vancouver.
