BROOKINGS, Ore. (AP) — The Coast Guard says it has rescued a 13-year-old boy who was seriously injured when he fell about 80 feet from a rock into the Pacific on the southern Oregon coast.
Crews located the boy in the water, surrounded by a cluster of rocks, and got him into a rescue litter late Wednesday afternoon. A Coast Guard helicopter lowered a rescue swimmer and hoisted the boy aboard for a flight to the Brookings airport, where he was turned over to local medics.
Local authorities were not able to provide an update on the boy’s condition Thursday evening.
