This sounds like the same old story. Every time C-Tran wants us to give them more money, the first thing you hear them saying is that they’re going to cut C-Van service to the elderly and the needy. Who are they trying to fool?
Recently, I was on Mill Plain at 6:30 a.m. on a Tuesday. From I-205 east to 164th Avenue, I saw a total of five buses in the same three-mile strip. One of the buses that had been heading east turned off and looked like it was not in service. The other four were all heading west, less than one half to three quarters of a mile behind each other. I saw only two riders and only one person waiting at any of the bus stops.
Why so many buses at 6:30 a.m. when there are so few riders and why so many buses on Mill Plain at all? Any time of the day, you can see multiple buses coming up on each other at any one stop. If you need to cut, cut where it’s needed. Quit trying to scare those who ride to get their votes.
Rate increases will happen but cuts will not.
