ABERDEEN, Wash. (AP) — The Transportation Department reports another milestone in construction of the casting basin at Aberdeen where pontoons for the new Highway 520 floating bridge will be built.

A crane is installing a three-section gate on Grays Harbor.

Spokesman Joe Irwin tells KBKW that when pontoons are complete the gate will be removed so the pontoons will float. A tug will tow them to Lake Washington at Seattle for bridge construction.

Each section of the gate weighs 50 tons and is 110 feet long and 10 feet tall. Two sections are being installed Thursday and the final section on Friday.
