Public sculpture at Arlington for biking trail
Thursday, November 3, 2011
ARLINGTON, Wash. (AP) -- Snohomish County officials will dedicate a sculpture Saturday on the Centennial Trail north of Arlington.
The Snohomish County Arts Commission paid artist Joe Powers of Machias (muh-CHY'-us) $40,000 for the work through the 1 Percent for Arts program.
The Daily Herald reports (http://bit.ly/tbLimK) it's a stainless steel arch that portrays entwined branches of two trees. Powers calls it "Resilience" because "nature seems to survive no matter what we do."
