Springfield teens accused of slingshot vandalism

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) — Police seized a high-powered slingshot they believe two teens used to break large windows during a vandalism spree in Springfield.

The 16-year-old boys who were arrested with the slingshot late Wednesday are facing multiple counts of criminal mischief. At least a half-dozen homes had windows broken Wednesday evening by someone firing metal ball bearings out a car window.

Sgt. John Umenhofer described the damage to The Register Guard (http://bit.ly/rRtj06 ) as “random acts of destruction.”
