Brown, Schlopy on first US slopestyle team

PARK CITY, Utah (AP) — Champions Bobby Brown and Alex Schlopy headline the first U.S. freeskiing slopestyle team, formed this year as the sport moves toward its Olympic debut in 2014.

Slopestyle was added to the Olympic program in July and the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association created a new freeskiing team to cater specifically to the needs of slopestyle and other freeskiing disciplines.

Brown is the AFP Slopestyle Tour champion and Schlopy is the world championships gold medalist.

The rest of the team announced Friday: Sammy Carlson, Gus Kenworthy and Tom Wallisch for the men, and Keri Herman, Ashley Battersby, Grete Eliassen, Devin Logan and Meg Olenick for the women.
