I-5 closed tonight in Portland
Southbound Marquam Bridge to be shut; use I-405
Friday, November 4, 2011
A contractor for the Oregon Department of Transportation will close the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 south of the Marquam Bridge from 11:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3 to 4:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5.
During the closure, motorists heading south on I-5 will take the Fremont Bridge although access to Interstate 84 eastbound and the Morrison Bridge from I-5 southbound will remain open.
Travel lanes on I-5 southbound will start closing at 10:30 p.m. with the full closure beginning at 11:30 p.m. The southbound closure will allow the contractor to place bridge beams for the Gibbs Street Pedestrian Bridge over I-5.
To prevent motorists from entering the work zone, the I-5 southbound OR43-Macadam Avenue off-ramp (exit 299A) will close.
Detours: Motorists traveling on I-5 southbound will take the Fremont Bridge to Interstate 405 south to the I-5 southbound off-ramp.
Motorists on I-84 westbound will take I-5 northbound to the Fremont Bridge and take I-405 south to the I-5 southbound off-ramp.
Motorists on OR43-Macadam Avenue or U.S. 26 Ross Island Bridge heading to I-5 south will follow a signed detour using city streets.
