Girls swimming: Camas beats River for 3A district title

Anna Panebianco won two events and Camas used its team depth to beat Columbia River and capture the team title at the 3A district championship in Kelso. Camas outscored River 344-327. Mountain View was third at 327.

Monica Bottelberghe easily won two events and Krista Helt and Melanie Anderson also captured district titles for River.

Bottelberghe won the 100 freestyle by seven seconds in 53.16 seconds. She also won the 200 freestyle by 20 seconds in 1:56.29.

Panebianco, a freshman, won the 100 backstroke in 1:03.44 and the 50 freestyle in 26.04.

Mountain View’s Darya Samiee also was a two-event winner, taking the 500 freestyle in 5:19.55 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.81.

Also winning district titles were Anderson (100 butterfly, 1:06.43) and Helt (200 individual medley, 2:28.46).
