EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan State needed only one week to regain sole possession of first place in the Big Ten’s Legends Division.

Next up is a trip to Iowa — to face the team that handed the Spartans their only regular-season loss of 2010.

Michigan State moved up two spots to No. 13 in Sunday’s AP poll, but the best news for the Spartans came the previous day. Michigan State entered the weekend tied for first in the division with Michigan and Nebraska. The Spartans beat Minnesota 31-24 on Saturday, and the Wolverines and Cornhuskers both lost.

Michigan State had fallen back into that first-place tie by losing at Nebraska, but the Spartans bounced back against the Golden Gophers.
