SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle Police are investigating the early Sunday rear-ending of a patrol car to see if the driver of the other vehicle was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Detective Renee Witt says the patrol car was hit just before 3 a.m. on Aurora Avenue. While traveling at about 30 mph, the officer saw headlights approaching in his rear view mirror. He realized he was about to be rear-ended and tried to accelerate out of the way but was struck from behind.

The other vehicle then hit a cement post, but police say no one was injuried in the vehicle occupied by three males. Witt says the driver was processed for DUI.
