OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — This is the last chance for voters to have a say in this year’s election.
Washington ballots must be postmarked or returned to an official drop-off site on Tuesday. Secretary of State Sam Reed suggests voters use the drop-off sites and not rely on mailboxes, which may lead to a belated postmark.
Election returns are expected starting at 8 p.m. Three statewide initiatives lead the election, including Costco’s expensive effort to privatize the state’s liquor system. Other initiatives would put restrictions on the state’s use of tolling and expand training requirements for long-term care workers.
Ballots around the state also include a variety of local races. Reed encourages voters to participate, saying these local elections can often have a greater impact on communities than more prominent national races on the ballot next year.
