PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Mayor Sam Adams sent Occupy Portland an open letter Monday telling demonstrators that drug and alcohol use and other criminal conduct must be addressed immediately.

He wrote, “The way things are operating now is not sustainable.”

Adams mentioned the suspected drug overdose death at a camp in Vancouver, British Columbia.

He says it’s time for Occupy Portland to figure out what the next phase of the movement looks like.
