Mississippi State beats Eastern Kentucky 76-66

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Dee Bost scored 23 points, Arnett Moultrie added 13 points and 10 rebounds and Mississippi State beat Eastern Kentucky 76-66 on Monday night in the opening round of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer.

Mississippi State (1-0) led nearly the entire game, but Eastern Kentucky (0-1) kept it close throughout. The Colonels pulled within 74-68 with 32.9 seconds remaining on Eric Stutz’s putback, but got no closer. Bost ended the game with a thunderous slam after a steal and breakaway.

Moultrie finished with a double-double in his first game with the Bulldogs after sitting out a season following his transfer from Texas-El Paso. Freshman Rodney Hood added 12 points in the first game of his college career.

Joshua Jones led Eastern Kentucky with 13 points. Mississippi State outrebounded the Colonels 43-29.
