EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — The Skagit County prosecutor has dropped charges against Colton Harris-Moore in the Barefoot Bandit case, allowing charges from several other counties to be consolidated in Island County.
The Daily Herald of Everett reports (http://bit.ly/s5w3yY) he is likely to be arraigned in Coupeville on three dozen state burglary and theft charges in a plea agreement that would keep the 20-year-old behind bars for more than a decade.
Harris-Moore already pleaded guilty in June to federal charges that included the theft of a plane in Skagit County. He’s held at the federal detention center at Sea-Tac.
The Daily Herald also reports Twentieth Century Fox paid $1.3 million for rights to the Barefoot Bandit story. Harris-Moore could not profit from his crimes but it would help pay restitution.
