LONDON (AP) — Squash officials believe innovations to make the sport more TV-friendly and commercially successful will help the game win a spot in the 2020 Olympics.

Squash failed to get onto the program for the 2012 and 2016 Games. It is one of eight sports trying to join the 2020 Olympics.

World Squash Federation President N. Ramachandran says the IOC has “told us what the problems were and we have addressed them” with changes the past two years.

Squash has introduced a “three-ref system” and video replays. It is also experimenting with glass floors for better viewing, and testing the same ball-tracking technology used in tennis.

Ramachandran says “we have changed the game completely.”
