Letter: City Council made correct decision
Tuesday, November 8, 2011
Recently the city of Vancouver declined to adopt a breed-specific ban targeting pit bulls after an unprovoked attack on a young boy downtown. I applaud the city for looking past the rhetoric on these dogs and for realizing that adopting Clark County’s “dangerous dogs” laws is the best way to go. Since the majority of dog bites are done by breeds other than pit bulls, embracing a broader law that covers all dog bites ensures that all affected residents are protected instead of just a select few.
Kudos to Vancouver leadership for doing the right thing by all of society instead of falling prey to the negative stereotypes.
