Letter: Power of vote most important

The Columbian

I have hoped that the Occupy movement might accomplish something positive politically as opposed to being soon-forgotten rabble rousers. However, when I drove past the Portland Occupy encampment a few days ago I was disappointed. A sign adjacent to the encampment read “Elect No One for President in 2012.” What? So the sign-maker is OK with the rest of the public electing our president, who is also their president? The average guy on the street has very little power regarding our federal government but he does have that wonderful power of his vote and that is extremely important.

Wake up, protesters. Make sure you are all registered voters. If you are unhappy with your Congressman vote him out. Currently we have the best incumbents both Republican and Democratic, that lobbyists can buy. Let’s let them know how dissatisfied we are by showing them the door.
