SEATTLE (AP) — A new state ferry should be delivered in two years for the only route in Eastern Washington, a run across Lake Roosevelt near the Grand Coulee Dam on Highway 21 between Wibur and Keller.

The Washington state ferry service says Foss Maritime Co. of Seattle is the apparent low bidder at $9.6 million for a 20-car ferry. It would replace the 12-car Martha S., which has been serving the route since 1948.

Funding mostly comes from federal appropriations and includes $2 million from the Colville Confederated Tribes and $361,000 in state money.

The ferry service says it expects to award the Keller contract next week. The new ferry should be delivered in 2013.
