Ailing Djokovic pulls out of Paris Masters

PARIS (AP) -- Novak Djokovic pulled out of the Paris Masters on Friday, a shoulder injury forcing him to withdraw before his quarterfinal with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

The top-ranked Djokovic said on his website that his shoulder worsened after his victory Thursday over Viktor Troicki. Tsonga advanced to the semifinals along with Tomas Berdych, who defeated Andy Murray 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4. Berdych will next face Juan Monaco or Roger Federer.

Murray broke Berdych in the seventh game and took the first set with a crosscourt forehand winner. The Briton rallied from a 5-2 deficit in the second to force a tiebreaker, but Berdych evened the match at one set apiece. The Czech broke at 4-4 in the final set and held on.
