Appalachian State routs Lees-McRae 90-61

BOONE, N.C. (AP) — Andre Williamson posted a double-double and Appalachian State cruised to a 90-61win over Division II Lees-McRae on Friday night in the season opener for both teams.

Williamson had 16 points, on 12 of 14 free-throw shooting, and 11 rebounds for the Mountaineers.

Three other players reached double figures for the Mountaineers, including Southern Conference Preseason Player of the Year Omar Carter who had 15 points. Jamaal Trice and Tab Hamilton added 10 each for Appalachian State, which had 10 players score.

The Mountaineers scored 23 points off 23 Lees-McRae turnovers and won the battle on the boards 53-44.

Appalachian State ended the first half on a 15-0 run to lead 46-21 at halftime and the lead never dipped below 23 points the rest of the way. The Mountaineers’ largest lead was 34 points with 2:20 remaining in the game.

Asad Lamot led Lees-McRae with 14 points.
