MILWAUKEE (AP) — The NCAA has suspended Marquette freshman Juan Anderson for the first three games of the season for accepting a free ticket to a Milwaukee Brewers playoff game.

Marquette says its compliance staff determined the rules violation, which was immediately self-reported to the NCAA.

Anderson missed the opener against Mount St. Mary’s on Friday night, and also will sit out against Norfolk State on Monday and against Winthrop in the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands. He is allowed to practice with the team during the suspension.

Marquette says Anderson accepted a free ticket to a suite at a Brewers playoff game from someone other than his parents or legal guardian.

In a news release, the 6-foot-6 recruit from Oakland, Calif., apologized to his teammates and coaches.
