SMU opens season with 78-49 victory over McMurry

DALLAS (AP) -- Robert Nyakundi scored 18 points to lead SMU to a season-opening 78-49 victory over McMurry Friday night.
Nyakundi also had a team-high eight rebounds for the Mustangs. London Giles had 12 points and Jalen Jones scored 11 for SMU. The Mustangs led 43-27 at halftime and made 13 of 31 tries from 3-point range in the game.
Steven Jones led the Division III War Hawks with 17 points and a game-high nine rebounds, and Bryce Hill scored 13 points. McMurry was 11 of 19 from behind the arc.
