GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Thomas Wilson threw a career-best four touchdown passes and Joshua Jones returned a fourth-quarter interception for the decisive touchdown in Elon’s 41-34 upset of Furman Saturday in a Southern Conference game.

The victory, ending a three-game losing streak by Elon (5-5, 3-4), was its fourth straight over Furman (6-4, 5-3). Elon had 442 yards total offense, 111 rushing by A.J. Harris. But the day belonged to Wilson and Jones.

Wilson threw for 279 yards. Two of his scoring passes went to Aaron Mellette, who had four receptions for 144 yards. The big catch, a 55-yarder, put Elon ahead for good 34-27. Jones, who had 13 tackles, then made what proved to be the game-winning play.

He intercepted a Chris Forcier pass and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown. Forcier threw a 10-yard scoring pass but his last pass was intercepted in the end zone by Akeem Langham.
