HIGH POINT, N.C. (AP) — Shay Shine scored 22 points and Corey Law recorded a double-double to lead High Point over Division III Bridgewater (Va.) 95-52 on Saturday night in the Panthers’ season opener.
Law scored 14 points, grabbed 13 boards, dished out four assists, and notched two steals and a block for the Panthers. Xavier Martin and Devante Wallace also chipped in 14 points apiece.
Shine and Nick Barbour each hit 3-pointers on High Point’s first two possessions for a 6-0 lead and the rout was already on. The Panthers turned that into a 21-4 game-opening run and led by 23 points at the break. They outscored the Eagles 49-29 in the second half to seal it.
The Panthers shot 45.3 percent (29 of 64) compared to just a 25.4 percent (16 of 63) mark by the Eagles.
Cody Griffith led Bridgewater with 10 points.
