BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) — The sister of a southern Illinois man gone missing during a deer hunting trip says she’s given up hope that he’s still alive.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports (http://bit.ly/vW07Y5) that Steve Litsey was last seen Oct. 30 near Roseburg, Ore., when he was separated from his hunting partner.

Authorities stopped searching for him after a snowstorm four days later.

The 71-year-old Litsey’s sister, Barbara Litsey, says the snow and freezing weather make it unlikely that he’s still alive.

Steve Litsey left his cell phone and GPS device in a camper. Searchers have not found his backpack, his gun or any other trace of him.

Litsey grew up in Belleville and moved to California in the early 1980s. Barbara Litsey says she last spoke to her brother two days before his disappearance.
