LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) — Andre Anderson rushed for a season-high 158 yards and McNeese State jumped out to an early lead and held on to beat Texas-San Antonio 24-21 in a nonconference game Saturday night.

The Cowboys (5-5) scored on a 30-yard field goal by Josh Lewis with 1 second left in the first quarter, then added scoring runs of 5 yards by Champlain Babin and 21 yards by Anderson to take a 17-0 lead.

A 1-yard score by Evans Okotcha with 39 seconds to go before halftime and Eric Soza’s 7-yard pass to David Morgan made it 17-14 with 3:30 left in the third.

McNeese State answered with a 29-yard TD pass from Darius Carey to Josh Jordan with 4:35 remaining. The Roadrunners needed just 45 seconds to score again, but the Cowboys then ran all but 13 seconds off the clock.
