LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — Texas Tech fans mostly cheered when Adam James was introduced for senior day before the Red Raiders faced No. 2 Oklahoma State.

The 23-year-old tight end was at the center of the controversy during the firing of former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach in December 2009. Leach was suspended, then fired amid allegations he mistreated James, who had a concussion. Leach has denied the allegations and sued the school.

James is having his best season. So far this year he has caught 19 passes for 240 yards and a touchdown — his third overall at Texas Tech — against in-state rival Texas A&M. Some fans booed him then.
