Presbyterian routs Virginia Military 38-6

CLINTON, S.C. (AP) — Ryan Singer threw two touchdown passes and ran for two scores as Presbyterian routed Virginia Military Institute 38-6 on Saturday.

Singer rushed for 106 yards and passed for 182 as the Blue Hose had a season-high 491 yards in total offense. Lance Byrd led the rushing attack for Presbyterian (3-7, 2-3 Big South Conference) with 117 yards and a touchdown.

Leading 14-6 late in the second quarter, Presbyterian scored the final 24 points of the game, including 10 in the final 1:44 of the first half. Singer scored on runs of 21 and 19 yards.

Presbyterian’s Justin Bethel made two solo tackles to set a conference record with 196 career solo tackles, breaking the record of 195 set from 2004-07. Also, the Blue Hose defense allowed a season-low 222 yards.

T.J. Talley scored the only touchdown for VMI (1-9, 1-4) on a 7-yard run.
