Southern Miss routs Spring Hill of NAIA 76-41

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — Maurice Bolden led five players in double figures with 15 points and Southern Mississippi defeated Spring Hill 76-41 on Saturday.

Bolden added eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks in the Golden Eagles’ season opener.

Southern Miss opened the game with a 12-2 lead before leading the Badgers 32-18 with 4:48 left in the first half. The Golden Eagles then outscored Spring Hill 15-1 the rest of the period to take a 47-19 lead at halftime.

Rashard McGill and Jonathan Mills added 13 points apiece, Angelo Johnson chipped in 11 and Torye Pelham had 10 for the Golden Eagles, who defeated Spring Hill for the 17th straight time.

Spring Hill committed 23 turnovers, and shot just 35.9 percent from the field (14 of 39).

The NAIA Badgers were led by Ricky Spears with 13 points.
