KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) — Two powerboat racers have been injured in the final races of the Key West World Championship, where three competitors died last week.

Sunday was the final day of racing. Super Boat International officials say two New Jersey men were injured when their 38-foot Warpaint slammed into a wave.

Super Boat International spokesman Rodrick Cox says one of the men was airlifted to a Miami hospital as a precaution. The other man was expected to be released Sunday from a Florida Keys hospital.

A Sarasota man died Saturday from injuries suffered Friday when his vessel rolled over twice in the final lap of a seven-lap race.

On Wednesday, two racers from Missouri died when their vessel crashed during a race inside Key West Harbor.
