PORT ORCHARD, Wash. (AP) — The Kitsap County sheriff’s office says a jail inmate was injured in an apparent suicide attempt when he dived about 15 feet off a second-tier railing.

He hit a table and seat and then the floor Sunday afternoon and was taken to Tacoma General Hospital with serious injuries.

The sheriff’s office says the 39-year-old man had been jailed Saturday for investigation of robbery and assault. He did not appear to be suicidal during a booking interview.
