NEW YORK (AP) — Richard Brown scored a career-high 15 points and Bobby Austin added 13 to help Furman rally past Columbia 62-58 on Monday night.

The Paladins (2-0) trailed 30-19 at halftime and were down 46-40 with 7:30 remaining when Colin Reddick scored five straight points, including a three-point play, to trim the margin to one. After a free throw by the Lions (0-2), Austin hit a jumper to tie it 47-47 with 5:42 left.

Columbia went back in front 49-47 on Cory Osetkowski’s layup with 3:10 remaining, but Brandon Sebirumbi answered for the Paladins with a 15-foot jumper that began an 8-0 run.

Bryant Irwin’s 3-pointer gave Furman its first lead, with 2:09 left, and Austin’s jumper pushed the lead to 54-49 with 1:28 left.

Columbia, which got 16 points from Brian Barbour and 12 from Noruwa Agho, outrebounded the Paladins 42-36, but Furman committed just 12 turnovers and recorded seven blocks.
