Firefighters responded to a rollover accident on the Interstate 5 south ramp to East Fourth Plain Boulevard on Monday afternoon. One person was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, said Joe Spatz, a Vancouver Fire spokesman.

The southbound ramp from Interstate 5 to East Fourth Plain Boulevard was temporarily closed Monday afternoon because of a crash involving a 2004 Chevrolet Impala.

Crews from responded to reports of a rollover crash around 2 p.m. Engine 2 was dispatched and immediately called for heavy rescue, which wasn’t available because of staffing, said Joe Spatz, a Vancouver Fire Department spokesman.

Ladder truck 1 from the downtown fire station responded instead.

Firefighters used a combination of air bags and power tools to extricate a male patient from the car, Spatz said.

The man was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, he said.

The ramp was closed until about 3 p.m. while crews waited for a tow truck to arrive, said Trooper Ryan Tanner, state patrol spokesman.
