Charlotte beats Central Michigan 77-75 in 2 OT

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) — Chris Braswell scored 22 points, including four in the second overtime, to lead Charlotte to a 77-75 victory against Central Michigan on Tuesday night.

Braswell, who had 10 rebounds, was one of three players to post a double-double for the 49ers (2-0). Javarris Barnett had 17 points and 12 rebounds and DeMario Mayfield 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Charlotte scored five of its seven points in the second overtime on free throws. Braswell had the only field goal.

Trey Zeigler had 22 points and 15 rebounds for the Chippewas (1-1), but made just 4 of 11 free-throw attempts and missed three of four tries from the line in the final 30 seconds of regulation.

Zach Saylor tied the score at 70-all for Central Michigan on a jumper with two seconds left in the first OT.

Derek Jackson had 18 points and Austin McBroom 15 for the Chippewas.

Both meetings between the schools have gone beyond regulation. In the first round of the 1977 NCAA tournament, Cedric Maxwell and Charlotte dispatched Central Michigan 91-86 in OT en route to the Final Four.
