Day 10 in missing Bellevue, Wash., toddler case

BELLEVUE, Wash. (AP) — It’s Day 10 in the search for a missing Bellevue toddler and police say they’ve had 1,100 tips but still can’t say what happened to Sky Metalwala.

Maj. Mike Johnson told a news conference Tuesday that “all options that are related to Sky’s disappearance are still on the table.”

He says nothing has changed in regard to the status of his mother, Julia Biryukova. On Nov. 6 she told police she had left him alone in a car to walk for gas, and he was gone and when she came back.

Johnson says investigators sat down with her and her lawyer that Sunday night, but she hasn’t cleared up discrepancies in her story since then, including why the car ran fine when police drove it.

Johnson says investigators are confident they’ll be able to reach Biryukova through her lawyer, if necessary.

He says police fell a sense of urgency and “have spared no expense or resources to find Sky.”
