A Vancouver man who pleaded guilty in a string of smash-and-grab thefts in Oregon has been sentenced in Washington County Circuit Court to 13 months in prison.

Sergiy V. Selivanov, 22, pleaded guilty Nov. 7 to first-degree criminal mischief and interfering with a peace officer, The Oregonian reported. The other 18 charges were dismissed.

Selivanov was arrested early Oct. 1 after Beaverton police discovered he and his wife, Marina Chertovskaya, 25, had broken into a car at Homewood Suites in the Beaverton area. Investigators then linked the couple to 17 cases of theft from vehicles parked in the lots of hotels or motels. Fourteen of the cases occurred in Beaverton, two in Tigard and one in unincorporated Washington County. GPS units were mainly targeted, along with other valuables, The Oregonian reported.

As part of his sentence, Selivanov will also have one year of post-prison supervision and pay $3,208.71 in restitution.

His wife’s case is scheduled to go to trial Jan. 24.
