CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Tony Stewart’s crew chief will not speculate on his future with the race team beyond Sunday’s season finale.

Stewart goes into Homestead-Miami Speedway trailing Carl Edwards by three points in the race to the Sprint Cup championship. He’s seeking to become the first driver/owner since Alan Kulwicki in 1992 to win NASCAR’s championship.

He’s done it despite uncertainty the last half of the season about personnel at Stewart-Haas Racing. Stewart fired his competition director during the summer, and there’s been speculation he’ll also replace crew chief Darian Grubb at the end of the year.

Asked Tuesday if he’ll be back with the team next season, Grubb said that’s a discussion for after the season ends.
