Hough — Ken Burris just got a golden phone. Burris, the community voice mail manager for the Council for the Homeless, is the winner of the national Community Voicemail Golden Phone Award for his efforts to provide a way homeless people can receive messages and stay connected. Not only did Burris develop the voice mail system, which provides hundreds of voice mail boxes for people in need, he also makes weekly broadcasts into those boxes, featuring job notices, health information and other important alerts and events. Plus, he maintains an associated website. His nominator thanked Burris for “endless hours of energy, dedication, commitment to the cause.” You can check out some of Burris’ efforts at http://cvmvancouver.blogspot.com.
