Gardner-Webb dominates DII Lees-McRae 91-61

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) -- Jason Dawson, Max Landis and Tyler Strange scored 12 points apiece to lead five Gardner-Webb players in double figures as the Runnin' Bulldogs cruised past Division II Lees-McRae 91-61 on Wednesday night.

Kevin Hartley added 11 points and Donta Harper added 10 for Gardner-Webb (2-1), who hit 11 of 24 (45.8 percent) from beyond the arc in the rout. Dawson went 4-for-4 from 3-point range.

Lees-McRae (0-3) was just 7 of 20 (35 percent) from long range.

The Runnin' Bulldogs opened the game with four 3-pointers, two apiece by Dawson and Landis, in their first five baskets and a 14-2 run. Gardner-Webb led by 19 points at the break and outscored the Bobcats 53-42 in the second half to seal it.

Gardner-Webb outshot Lees-McRae 52.9 percent (36 of 68) to 43.1 percent (22 of 51) from the floor.

Jeremiah Henry led the Bobcats with 16 points.
