Lafayette pulls away from St. Francis (NY) 79-73

EASTON, Pa. (AP) — Lafayette made 10 of 12 free throws in the final 1:33 to pull away for a 79-73 win over St. Francis (N.Y.) on Wednesday night.

Ryan Willen, who scored 20 points to lead the Leopards (2-1), made 10 of 12 free throws on the night including all four of his attempts down the stretch. Willen wasn’t the only Lafayette player with a hot hand at the foul line as the Leopards shot 81.1 percent (30 of 37), including 19 of 22 in the second half.

Rob Delaney added 14 points, Jim Mower had 13 and Joey Ptasinski 12 for the Leopards, who led 35-26 at halftime.

Travis Nichols, who scored 24 points in a loss to Seton Hall in the Terriers’ opener, led the way with 15 points. Dre Calloway added 14 points, Ben Mockford had 12 and Stefan Peruinic had 10 for St. Francis (0-2).
