Late 3-pointer helps UMKC top Nebraska-Omaha 77-74

KANSAS CITY (AP) — Reggie Chamberlain scored 28 points and hit a 3-pointer with two seconds remaining to lift UMKC to a 77-74 victory against Nebraska-Omaha on Wednesday night.

After Caleb Steffensmeier tied the game for Nebraska-Omaha with a jumper with 36 seconds left, UMKC (1-2) held the ball for Chamberlain’s shot, his fifth 3-pointer of the game.

Trinity Hall added 11 points and nine rebounds for the Kangaroos.

Mitch Albers scored 26 points, John Karhoff 18 and CJ Carter 11 for the Mavericks (1-2). Alex Welhouse had 10 rebounds.

There were 13 ties and 16 lead changes, with UMKC’s eight-point lead in the first half the largest for either team.
