PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A group affiliated with the Occupy Wall Street movement marched through downtown Portland on Wednesday, protesting the student loan system and the debt students incur.

The hour-long march that began at Portland State University ended with a scuffle between people who spilled onto city streets and officers on bicycles who tried to keep protesters on the sidewalk.

About 200 protesters gathered in front of a Bank of America. In chants and speeches, protesters said education is a natural right, and said excessive education costs and student loans create a system that keeps people in poverty.

The marches in Portland have been happening daily since the Occupy Portland encampment was removed on Sunday.

Protesters have been marching in solidarity with other cities and for a litany of causes.
