The number of houses sold in Clark County climbed in October, as buyers took advantage of declining values, according to a report issued Wednesday.

The median price — half sold for more, half for less — was $177,900 for all new and existing homes sold in Clark County, down 7.3 percent from the same month last year and down 5.4 percent from September, according to Portland-based RMLS. In October, 399 home sales closed, a 24.7 percent increase over the same month last year. In September, 441 homes sold. However, there were 508 pending transactions in October, up 5.8 percent from 480 pending sales in September.

RMLS also reported that it would take 7.2 months to sell all 2,881 houses on the market in Clark County, up from a 6.8 month inventory in September.
