No. 3 Alabama seniors seeking milestone win
Thursday, November 17, 2011
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama's seniors are poised to become the program's winningest class.
The third-ranked Crimson Tide's seniors are favored to get win No. 46 Saturday against Georgia Southern of the Football Championship Subdivision.
Mark Barron, Josh Chapman, William Vlachos and the other seniors are currently tied with the class that won 45 games and a national title from 1991-94 but lost eight of them to forfeits.
The 2007 and 2008 recruiting classes were the first under coach Nick Saban. Five of their members have already been first-round NFL draft picks, including Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram. They've won one national title and are hoping for a second.
Barron is the biggest name left. The two-time All-America safety is a finalist for the Bronco Nagurski Trophy given to the nation's top defensive player.
