Nine people graduated from Clark County Superior Court’s drug court Thursday — the most ever to graduate in one day.
The therapeutic court, which offers low-level drug offenders treatment instead of jail time for a minimum 12-month program, holds a graduation every month. On average, two or three people graduate at one time, said therapeutic courts coordinator Brad Finegood.
Six people received their diplomas Thursday morning, followed by another three in the afternoon.
Officials say the larger number reflects the overall increase in participants. “There’s more people in drug court than there’s ever been,” Finegood said.
