Johnson leads UC Santa Barbara past Westmont 82-61

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) — Orlando Johnson had 20 points, 12 rebounds and four steals Friday night as UC Santa Barbara remained unbeaten with an 82-61 victory over Westmont College.

James Nunnally added 16 points and eight rebounds for the Gauchos (3-0), and Kyle Boswell came off the bench to score 15 points.

Jordan Sachs had 25 points and seven rebounds for Westmont (2-1), an NAIA school that counted this game as an exhibition. Christopher Miller added 10 points for the Warriors.

Westmont stayed close for much of the game. The Warriors trailed 33-31 at halftime and scored the first eight points after the break. UC Santa Barbara answered with a 9-0 run, with five coming from Johnson.

Westmont was still within 44-43 with 13:35 remaining, but the Gauchos used a 22-5 run over the next nine minutes to pull away for good.
