Big plays help McNeese State dominate Lamar 45-17

BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) -- Two McNeese State defenders ran back interceptions for touchdowns in upending Lamar 45-17 on Saturday night.

Malcolm Bronson returned a pickoff 44 yards for a 24-10 lead early in the third quarter, and Janzen Jackson ran one back 84 yards in the waning seconds.

Andre Anderson rushed for two touchdowns as the Cowboys (6-5, 4-3 Southland) finished on a three-game winning streak and notched their seventh consecutive winning season.

Darius Carey scored on a 34-yard run and Dontae Spencer did the same from 67 yards as McNeese State outrushed Lamar 203 yards to 39.

The Cardinals (4-7, 2-5) led 10-3 late in the first quarter after Andre Bevil threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to J.J. Hayes. Though the Cardinals gained 336 passing yards to the Cowboys' 126, that was offset by Lamar throwing four interceptions.
