Central Connecticut State sinks Army 67-51

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) — Robby Ptacek scored a career-high 31 points as Central Connecticut State sank Army 67-51 on Saturday for the Blue Devils’ first win of the season.

Ken Horton added 19 points, including four 3-pointers, as CCSU shot 50.9 percent (27 of 53) from the floor in the win.

The Black Knights shot just 39.1 percent (18 of 46).

The Blue Devils (1-2) led 34-30 at the break and held Army to 21 second-half points as the Black Knights hit just 8 of 24 (30 percent) from the field following intermission.

CCSU forced 22 Army turnovers that led to 27 points. The Blue Devils also dished out 17 assists, including seven each from Kyle Vinales and Malcolm McMillan. McMillan added four points and five steals.

Ella Ellis had 21 points to lead the Black Knights (1-3).
